Joseph Paget is an RIBA chartered architect based in East London whose work focuses on the intersection between building conservation and sustainability. With a background in repair, retrofit and contemporary design, he incorporates strategies such as the imaginative re-use and reclamation of materials to ensure projects leave a light carbon footprint and a lasting impression.
The practice was set up in 2024 in order to deliver a selection of residential and community projects after a decade working in industry, including at award winning architecture and interior design studio Project Orange, leading conservation architect Purcell and multidisciplinary built-environment consultancy the Useful Simple Trust.
At Project Orange, Joseph led the playful restoration of a 1970’s social club in Thamesmead, south-east London, during it’s construction phases. The Moorings Sociable Club opened to the public as a community centre in 2022. It was shortlisted as a finalist for the AJ Awards that year.
At Purcell he assisted on prestigious conservation projects such as the roof refurbishment and extension to the Grade II* listed Clifton Cathedral, Bristol - an iconic modernist building first opened in 1973 and refurbished in 2018.
At the Useful Simple Trust, he developed retrofit strategies and refurbishment projects for local authority and education sector clients, working closely with the Trust’s expansive team of engineers, masterplanners and sustainability consultants.
Throughout his career, Joseph has also delivered residential projects across several London boroughs, from their early design stages to completion. This breadth of experience gives the practice its versatile skill set, and the ability to continue to deliver high quality buildings that are carefully tailored to the needs of both their client and their site.
Joseph studied at the Sheffield School of Architecture and Sheffield Hallam University, completing his education abroad with RIBA USA in New York City.
